Dori is a mother of four children and anything but a politician. She grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work at an early age. Dori was a teen mom who could have easily made bad choices, but instead hard work became her core value. She went to work and struggled to support her family while obtaining a Bachelor’s, and Master’s Degree in accounting. Her love of learning and hard work continues to this day, as she is studying for her CPA Exam while ensuring the accuracy of the Profit and Loss Statement of one of the largest telecom companies in the world. Now she is running to represent us in District 4.
Dori Howington is passionate about volunteering and works with multiple organizations focused on supporting veterans and children’s services. Locally, she has adopted three streets through the city and county adopt-a-street programs, and enjoys participating in Deltona’s stormwater events, including park cleanups and marking storm drains.
In addition, Dori is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), serving as Chair of the American History Scholarship Committee and Co-Chair of the Children’s Literacy Program. She frequently volunteers at The Wash Foundation, formerly known as Clean the World, and has recently become a sponsor of Trinity Churches’ Dream Center.
Dori is always seeking ways to be more involved in the community and would love the opportunity to represent YOU as the voice of the residents in City Hall.
Family Values
Dori's husband Drew was from Deltona and they had discussed many times relocating here, to Deltona. After Covid they made that dream a reality and came to call Deltona home. Dori is driven to make her home a brighter place. She knows like you our city has a lot of challenges ahead.
Dori knows we cannot continue to raise taxes on our residents, forcing our residents to pay for the mistakes of the past and for future growth. That is not fair.
She knows the families of Deltona need a real community and that Deltona is a real city not just a big HOA.
Dori understands accountability and real responsibility. She is a professional with over 20 years of accounting and controlling experience in Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, and Government Contracting, Dori has real-world experience in budgeting and forecasting as well as making significant financial decisions. Her experience will serve our Deltona well as our next commissioner in District 4.
We must face the challenges of the future with leadership and real-world experience. We must move past petty bickering and gotcha politics and resolve our taxpayers real issues, like flooding, lack of commercial development and real jobs in our community and affordable workforce housing.
